Webometrics in 2022: Thu Dau Mot University enters the Top 20

According to the latest ranking of 2022 by Webometrics (July), Thu Dau Mot University has risen to 20th out of a total of 184 universities and research institutions in Vietnam. The university's results in this ranking in previous years are 39th in 2020 and 24th in 2021.
 
In the academic year 2021 - 2022, the number of international articles of the University is 561 articles, bringing the total number of accumulated articles by July 2022 to 1,210 international articles. Besides, according to statistics based on Scopus data conducted by Scimago, as of August 2022, Thu Dau Mot University has 4 major groups ranked in the top 10 universities in Vietnam. Specifically:
• Business, Management, and Accounting: 3rd (Vietnam), 141st (Asia), 540th (World).
• Energy: ranked 3rd (Vietnam), 230th (Asia), 392nd (World).
• Economics, Econometrics, and Finance (Economics, Econometrics, and Finance): 4th (Vietnam), 101st (Asia), 329th (World).
• Engineering: ranked 7th (Vietnam), 288th (Asia), 468th (World).
The ranking is objective evidence of the university's efforts in the field of scientific research, annual international publication, strengthening the brand value of Thu Dau Mot University in the world education and research system
 
Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (Webometrics for short) is a ranking system for the world's universities. The rankings are published by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of Spanish National Research Council (in Spanish: Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) based in Madrid, This system is also known as the Ranking Web of Universities. The rankings were first published in January 2004. In Vietnam, by January 2016, this organization included universities in the evaluation and ranking system.
Webometrics rankings are published twice a year. By the end of July 2022, there were 46 countries in Asia (including Vietnam) assessed by Webometrics. In Vietnam, there are 184 higher education institutions listed in the rankings.
 
Webometrics ranking method
From 2021, Webometrics is based on the following 3 evaluation criteria:
1. Visibility (or Impact): This is an indicator of the influence of the university's webdomain system. The number of backlinks from other websites back to the school's website. Data taken from Ahref and Majestic. Weight: 50%
2. Transparency (or Openness): This is an index related to the academic pervasiveness of the university. Data taken from Google Scholar, the number of citations of the top 210 scientists with the highest number of citations of universities with profiles on Google Scholar (but only 190, excluding the Top 20 scientists with the highest number of citations). Weight: 10%.
3. Excellence (or Scholar): This is an indicator of the university's investment in scientific research. Top 10% of articles published by lecturers and scientists in scientific journals cited in 27 professional fields. Data retrieved from Scopus database. Weight: 40%.
